Stop consuming, start creating
There is a serious creator drought (and the world needs you)
Consumption is society’s default. But creativity is an innate state. And there’s not enough of it.
Just like depleting resources in nature, digital over-consumption creates lethargy, a lack of confidence, negativity, depression and mindlessness.
So, start planting more trees.
Plus, the world freaking needs you and your unique voice, experiences, interests and skills. Because nobody else is you and we don’t have nearly enough active creators.
There are way too consumers.
Don’t believe me? Consider this:
According to Statista, over 60% of the world’s population is on social (that’s over 5 billion people).
But according to DemandSage, there are only around 200 million creators.
That’s only 4% of the population. So 96% of people are just consuming.
96% of social media users are living and subsisting off of the ideas, beliefs, experiences, nuances and content of just 4% of platform accounts.
We need more freaking creators! The world needs you, damnit.
And the best part? This is the most creative, fulfilling way to achieve life autonomy.
(life autonomy — aka, complete independence to do what you want, when you want, with whoever you want, wherever you want).
The creator life — aka, modern life — is punk. It’s an adventure. It’s reserved for the truest travelers, artists and disruptors.
So start building your corner of digital earth. The real estate is still cheap.
Get scrapes on your face and embrace looking like an idiot for a little while. Confuse people around you — but smile and laugh it off.
Build something.
Stay patient and have fun — love the ride. Script the movie you’d want to watch.
The tail end of success is long — you don’t need to be Mr. Beast for success and you don’t need to create the next Apple for riches.
Start small. Share your story and your ideas. Stop consuming — the world is waiting (no really, there’s not enough creators!).
