You can be many things...
(the multi-brand creator)
I can never choose just one thing.
I make music, and art, and blog and travel too. But I also love SEO, content marketing and solopreneurship.
And fashion (someday…you will become something too).
But I thought I had to choose just one thing. And I couldn’t.
I constantly rotated between these pillars, based on projects I was working on, mood and inspiration.
One week was all about traveling through Tokyo and how to be a digital nomad. Then the next week I was in my bedroom studio sharing tips on music production and songwriting.
Surely, these two domains cannot exist in the same digital space — right? Such confusion for the reader, the audience, and the algorithms…
Confusion for you (and me) too.
Here’s the thing — you can be multi-niche (it’s a strength). But my blog and my socials were becoming a little too layered.
Having extra, unique, seemingly different layers are a GOOD THING. But not everything needs to be turned into a full guide or content.
Rather, those extra layers work best as talking points and examples to highlight your main niche and build authenticity around.
For example, if I focus on creating travel content, I can use my experience as a musician making music abroad to review the best AirBnBs for quiet and privacy. It’s a talking point rather than a whole dang content pillar.
This is how to layer yourself in personal branding (for sustainable growth, SEO and better organization).
But there was a problem with this model — I still wanted more. I needed to also create content for my other domains. Because I love them equally (and I also just like to talk about them).
But they didn’t make sense to all live in the same place (travel, entrepreneurship and blogging, music-making, art and lifestyle — it’s a bit too much and hard to manage from a list-building and logistical perspective).
So I found my solution: multibranding for solo creators.
I have three sub-brands, each with their own home (which I talked about in a previous email):
Music (quin jef)
Travel / Lifestyle (jef quin)
Creator entrepreneurship (quin creativ)
This organization has made me more motivated, more productive and more stoked overall.
The algorithms and my potential audience understand my content better and it’s easier to create offers and grow topical authority (especially for Google ranking).
I love hopping between each sub-brand, because each one has a subtly unique personality. Each sub-brand has different goals, audience values, content style and more.
I’m a blogger, a traveler, a musician and an artist with a love for solopreneurship. I’m a multi-brand.
So if you’re like me and struggle to choose just one thing, I’m here to tell you that you don’t need to. You can do it all.
(although, building one domain at a time is a smart move for quicker results — at least earlier on).
So go create, and be your full self — build the multi-layered vision and brand of your dreams. I’ll see you out there.
Later ✌️
(also, I missed last week’s email — my apologies! It’s been a bit busy over here…)
