(PrettyChill) Indulge in your guilty pleasures...

(+ 2 new posts)

What are your guilty pleasures?

And how often do you indulge in them?

When I was around middle school age, I went to a friend’s house for a sleepover. He had a sister who loved Spice Girls.

Somehow, that night, we were roped into blasting their greatest hits while dancing around the house like idiots.

It was embarrassing…

But really, it was incredibly fun and surprisingly cathartic.

You see, I came from a pop punk background, so it sort of felt like musical cheating (and something I would probably get made fun of for, had word gotten out).

The truth was, I loved Spice Girls and other pop songs — something I suppressed, ignored and kept secret.

It was my guilty pleasure. And I never let myself indulge in it.

(these days though, I don’t care…and I also realized most of my friends also enjoyed these songs — if for nothing more than 90s nostalgia)

But had I indulged and let loose, I probably would’ve been happier, more confident and more relaxed.

So, lessons learned — I’m here to tell you to embrace your guilty pleasures, even if especially if they’re cringe.

Letting yourself love the things you truly want to love is cathartic, authentic and fun.

This is your permission slip — to indulge. Your guilty pleasures bring you joy and they don’t hurt anyone (maybe just the occasional ego).

But embracing your guilty pleasures boosts your:

The less you care, the more fun you have. And the more fun you have, the happier and more chill you become.

So I ask again, what are your guilty pleasures?

Go indulge in them.

Later! ✌️
